Go-Karting

Have an exhilarating race around a track with friends at speeds of up to 30mph to see who's the best driver.

How to tick this off your list:

Activity requirements
Go-Karting is not recommended for persons with heart problems, epilepsy or other conditions, which may be affected by exertion. Particularly tall, short or heavy drivers may have problems fitting into the karts. Where we went the minimum age for children was 8, and adults, 13.

Cost
When we went it cost about £30 for 2 15minute races which I think is pretty reasonable, but there's probably places that you can do it for cheaper, either way, it's not breaking the bank.

What Fiked recommends
Soft shoes such as trainers are a must if you want to have good control over your pedals, and jumpsuits and helmets are provided for you. If you have your own gloves we recommend bringing them as the ones they provide aren't particularly nice to wear. Be careful when you get back in a car, you're no longer playing hight speed bumper cars and the pedals are a load less responsive.

Best time to do this
If you're outdoor Go-Karting, it's a good thing to do on holiday in the sun, but indoor Go-Karting can be done all day, all year long. After work with friends in the evening is a personal favourite for us.

Where can I do this?
Go-Karting tracks seem to be everywhere these days and in England, we're no further then a 45 minute drive from one. I've been on bigger tracks in Spain though and the breeze really take the edge off the heat.

Who we recommend does this:
Anyone over the age of 8 can try it, and it's great fun to try with friends to see who's the best. Try to get a group together though as it's much tougher racing against a big group of people that you don't know and are a lot better then you.
