Eat at a Michelin Star Restaurant

Fine dining is defined by the Michelin Star and it's hard to really know what your taste buds are capable of until you've eaten in a restaurant with at least 1.

How to tick this off your list:

Activity requirements
An empty stomach and a deep wallet. Throw the diet out of the window for this activity, chances are you're not going to be able to do it too often.

Cost
Expect to pay a minimum of $150 a head and even more if you're planning on drinking a lot. We ate in a 3 Michelin Star restaurant and the price was about double that, but it was definitely worth it.

What Fiked recommends
Personally, we went for a full 7 course meal with all the trimmings; if you're probably only going to do it once in your life, you might as well do it right. Book plenty in advance for top restaurants, but depending on the time of year and city, you can get away with just a couple days notice. And don't fill up on bread (even though it's amazing).

Best time to do this
Special occasions and holidays are obvious choices, and mid-week reservations are easier to get. Just make sure that you're feeling up to it; it's not exactly a cheap thing to do again.

Where can I do this?
Japan has a huge amount of restaurants with Michelin stars so there's plenty of choice, but if you're not in the area, London, Paris, New York, Hong Kong, California and Vegas all have multiple restaurants too.

Who we recommend does this:
Anyone with a love of food and a good apetite - no fussy eaters! We had a fussy eater in our party and experience was wasted on him.
